Oakton College Password Reset

SMS Terms and Conditions

By checking the opt-in box on the Oakton College Password Reset page, you agree to the following terms and conditions regarding the receipt of text messages (SMS).

1. Program Description and One-Time Use

The Oakton College Self-Service Password Reset tool allows users to recover their account access. By providing your mobile phone number and opting in, you authorize Oakton College to send you a text message containing a verification code.

Strictly One-Time Use: The cell phone number you enter is used exclusively for a single, one-time transaction to facilitate your immediate password reset request. It will not be added to any recurring text message subscription lists. It will be matched to the existing cell phone number stored in our systems for general communication purposes.

2. Message Frequency

You will receive one (1) text message per password reset request. You will only receive another message if you manually initiate a new password reset request on the web portal.

3. Pricing and Fees

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and service plan. Oakton College does not charge a fee for this service, but you are responsible for any charges from your mobile provider.

4. Support and Opt-Out Instructions

  • To get help: If you require assistance or experience issues with the password reset text, contact the IT Help Desk directly at helpdesk@oakton.edu or call or text 847.635.1965.
  • To opt-out: Because this is a one-time message triggered by your active request, you will not receive continuous messages. However, to permanently revoke consent for future password reset texts, you may reply STOP at any time.

5. Privacy and Data Sharing

Oakton College respects your privacy. The mobile number you provide for this service is kept secure and confidential. Mobile information will not be shared, sold, or conveyed to any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

6. Carrier Disclaimer

The password reset SMS service is available on most major US mobile carriers (including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, etc.). Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to effective transmission from your network operator.
